Meads sits below the Downs at the western end of town, with large Victorian and Edwardian houses, mature front gardens and flint walls. Much of it is a conservation area.
Driveways in Meads
- Taking down a front wall for parking can need permission in the conservation area
- Gravel and resin in natural colours suit the period houses
- Sloping plots may need steps or retaining walls, and chalk drains well under permeable drives
- Parts of Meads have controlled parking, so check for a bay outside before planning a dropped kerb
